RHS Art StudentsDinosaur Nation Monument “Rivers Past and Present” Exhibit February 1-April 30, 2020

Through the International Fiber Collaborative, RHS art teacher Mrs. Shannon Engelbrecht was able to find a national art opportunity that best suited our RHS artists. The IFC is a non-profit organization that promotes global collaborative public art initiatives, a marriage of art & education. The IFC prides itself in being a grassroots organization, reaching out to students, individuals, groups and organizations all over the world.

In October of 2019, Mrs. Angie Anderson’s and Mrs. Shannon Engelbrecht’s classes skyped with Utah’s Dinosaur National Monument fossil specialist to receive education on dinosaurs, vegetation and climate. RHS students were given the opportunity to create preliminary plans for a national art collection for the “Rivers of Past and Present” theme exhibit.  Select students were chosen to complete their plans on a large 24” x 24” canvas based upon their designs and their work ethic.  These 7 students were Kaylee Denbo, Shanna Loughridge, Aliceon Skyles, Angela Yang, Zachary Parker, Ceirra Oden, and Ivory Rackham. Students could work independently or collaboratively.  Students worked many hours both in school, after school and at home in order to complete the work on time.  The final works of art were mailed in December.  The art is currently on exhibit in Utah until April 30th . Their works can be viewed online as well.   Student art will be mailed back in late spring or early summer. This was a fantastic real world experience for our students.
