One of the scholarship recipients this year was Rolla High School senior Mohamed Algraiw. Algraiw has plans to attend MIT and pursue Computer Science and Engineering. “The reason I chose MIT specifically is because I believe it will give me the best chance to truly make a change in the world and pursue research in my interest areas to the fullest. It’s been my dream school for years,” said Algraiw. When asked how he plans to use his degree beyond college he said, “Possibly pursuing the academia and research path at MIT or I might choose to work with a big tech company like Google or Apple.”
When asked about his time at Rolla Public Schools, Algraiw said, “I’m really thankful that I went to Rolla, from Truman Elementary to High School, and all of my teachers have been amazing. They’ve played a huge role in who I am and how I got to MIT. I’ll look back on my time here with fond memories.”
Rolla High School Counselor Amber Hendrix is excited for Mohamed and his achievements. She said, “Mohamed is an outstanding student who is an exceptional example of what hard work and dedication can produce. I have no doubt he will continue to grow as a learner and develop his leadership skills to leave a huge impact on the world around him.”
