Edited to add: We apologize that you did not receive this information via email/text before it was posted on social media. We always try to communicate with our staff and families directly first. There was a glitch in the system today and we did not realize this happened until several hours later. Thanks for your patience. -Gina Zervos

Dear Rolla 31 Families,

As you are aware, three of our buildings have experienced significant damage from the recent tornado which will impact our ability to have classes in some locations. Here is an overview of the current plan we are working to implement prior to students returning. The changes below are expected to remain in effect through the end of the school year. Families being impacted by these changes will be contacted by their building principal and/or classroom teacher(s).

We are unable to occupy Wyman for the rest of the school year. Fortunately, we have an open building available for instruction. We plan to relocate students in Kindergarten through third grade from Wyman to the new Early Childhood Center at Blue’s Lake. Wyman Early Childhood students will be moved to Greentree Church’s educational spaces.

Mark Twain students will remain at Mark Twain while repairs are made, however, some students and services will be relocated from their usual classrooms.

Fifth-grade students at Rolla Middle School will relocate to the first floor of Rolla Technical Center. Some RTC students will shift to alternate locations/classrooms to allow space for incoming RMS students.

This week our staff members are working in their spaces to try to quickly implement this plan. Our structural and architectural engineers thoroughly inspected each building on Sunday to ensure we could safely move furniture and classroom supplies from impacted areas. The areas we are planning to use for instruction have been approved for use by our engineers.

We know these changes will bring challenges. Our faculty, staff, and leadership teams are committed to coming together to provide in-person learning opportunities for all students as quickly as possible. Thank you for your support and flexibility. As we move through the next few days there could be many unknowns. Please know that we will continue to share details about transportation and other services as they are finalized.

Thank you,

Dr. Kyle Dare

R31 Superintendent
