Safety Incident at RMS Today

This afternoon, school personnel at Rolla Middle School noticed an unauthorized person on the east side of the building (former softball field) attempting to steal items from the property. As the School Resource Officer approached the person, he attempted to flee and was immediately apprehended. Local law enforcement was alerted and quickly arrived to arrest the subject. It has been confirmed by police that the subject was unarmed. 

There were students on the playground on the opposite side of the building during that time, and they were quickly secured by staff before being given the all-clear by law enforcement. We appreciate the diligence of SRO Grisham and the Rolla Police Department for their quick response.
