I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful and healthy holiday season. As we embark on the second semester, I want to highlight that it will be a busy time filled with numerous events, including schedule-building for our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, as well as required state testing and graduation preparations.
One significant event this month is “Experts in the Classroom,” which will take place on January 13th. During this event, we will dedicate two and a half hours of the school day to intentional activities across all grade levels.
- Juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to engage with professionals from various occupations within our community. This interaction aims to provide students with valuable insights as they prepare for college and career readiness upon graduating from RHS.
- Sophomores will visit the Rolla Technical Institute (RTI). This visit will allow them to learn about the various career technical classes available at RTI and RTC, which is crucial as they may become eligible to select these classes for their junior and senior years.
- Freshmen will participate in our Freshmen Leadership Summit, featuring a prominent guest speaker who will deliver an engaging and motivational message focused on leadership qualities and the importance of positive habits such as time management and goal setting.
Attendance at "Experts in the Classroom" is essential as it serves as a precursor to the scheduling process for the 2026-2027 school year. This scheduling will commence in earnest with the annual RHS Enrollment Fair on January 14th from 5-7 p.m. in the RHS Fieldhouse. The enrollment fair offers students and parents the chance to consult with teachers and counselors about course recommendations that align with each student’s graduation plan. The counseling department will present two sessions in the RHS Lecture Hall—at 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.—covering dual credit, dual enrollment, AP (Advanced Placement) opportunities, RHS graduation requirements, and admission criteria for select postsecondary institutions. While especially helpful for incoming freshmen, the event is also valuable for parents of current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.
We are looking forward to a productive start to the second semester. To stay updated on the happenings at the high school, please refer to our daily announcements. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact my office.
