Re: Students considering participation in athletics, academic team, band, choir, colorguard, drama, and speech & debate

Before a student can participate in any school event or performance falling under the umbrella of MSHSAA activities, the student and a parent or guardian must complete the following requirements:

All students participating in athletics and/or high school activities (academic team, band, choir, color guard, drama, and speech & debate) must have a current physical on file in the HS Activities Office before the first day of practice or try-outs. The physical examination sheet, completed by a physician, physician assistant, or chiropractor, is valid for 2 years; however, the remaining pages of the physical must be completed annually. Per MSHSAA by-laws, a student shall not be permitted to practice or compete for a school until a valid physical confirming health insurance coverage has been turned in to their Activities Office. Physicals and annual updates for high school fall athletic and activity programs should be submitted to the RHS Activities Office by Friday, August 7, 2026. Physicals and annual updates for the junior high fall athletics season must turn their paperwork in to the RHS Activities Office no later than Friday, August 14, 2026. Physicals and updates that expire during a participating season must be completed before the start of that season to avoid any loss in participation. Physical forms and update packets are available at the RHS Activities Office, the RJH Main Office, or you may go online at https://bulldogs.rolla31.org under “Forms & More”. The current MSHSAA Pre-Participation Physical or Annual Update Packets are the only forms accepted for participation in athletics or activities.

Students participating in athletics, as well as academic team, speech & debate, and drama, (NOT band) must pay a participation fee of $55 prior to taking part in any event, competition, or performance. This fee must be paid in the RHS Activities Office during regular business hours or at https://bulldogs.rolla31.org/ under “Ticketing”.  Your athlete may qualify for a scholarship provided by the Rolla Athletic Booster Club based on their participation in the free and reduced lunch program. Please contact the Activities Office to begin the application process.

All students participating in a MSHSAA activity (athletics, academic team, band, choir, colorguard, drama, speech & debate), along with their parent/guardian, must attend a meeting hosted by their coach or sponsor where the MSHSAA co-curricular requirements will be reviewed and a participation policy acceptance form will be completed. This requirement must be completed before a student may participate in each MSHSAA activity.

Students new to the school district within the past 365 days must complete a MSHSAA Transfer of Eligibility form. Please contact the Activities Office to initiate this process if this applies to your student.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Activities Office at 573-458-0149.

(edited to clarify RHS band does not pay a $55 activities fee)
