Community Concerns Clarified

Dear Rolla 31 Families,

We received a few calls from concerned community members regarding information heard over the local police scanner that referenced two district buildings in separate incidents earlier today. We would like to provide some clarification.

In the first call, law enforcement relayed information from Mark Twain Elementary related to an off-campus investigation involving a student. The second call came from a School Resource Officer at Rolla Junior High, who reported a household object (never a threat to others) that was voluntarily surrendered by a student. The object was turned over to law enforcement out of an abundance of caution.

We understand that hearing information over a police scanner can cause concern, and we appreciate you reaching out with questions. We value transparency and are committed to keeping our families and community informed. If there is ever a situation that presents a safety concern at one of our facilities, we will communicate directly with you as quickly as possible.
